WEEDS!

Yes, these are weeds, the most natural ground cover of the earth.. The saviour of the earth’s surface soil. But unfortunately most of the time they are considered a hindrance to the cultivated plant species(mostly hybrid) and are discarded or completely eliminated through extensive uprooting or chemical processes.

My relation with the world of weeds is a long story since my childhood days…

I have always wondered while wandering the length and breadth of this great country, India, why these tiny plants (compared to the hybrid) were created by the creator of all, if they were to be discarded by humankind, most of the time.

In my belief, the right of existence is equal to all. These tiny weeds and any tiny insect, animal or bird nurtured by the world of weeds have as much a right to live as we, the Humankind, here in this Universe.

I had started this experiment in my own way in my own style and I do not know how far I have gone, but my experiment is on. I do not do any treatment to anybody and not against the modern medicines or treatment. I believe in a balanced procedure of human health maintenance without having any absolute leaning towards any particular system but having a very flexible way of living, so that everything and every system will have its place of importance.

My experiment is on in the world of weeds. I am growing crops with weeds. I am trying my best to let people know about the contribution of these weeds making for a healthy survival of Humanity without much expectation. But is it not the duty of Humankind, as the most intelligent and the only rational being and the last species of this Universe, on the verge of transformation, having the control over all the earth’s resources, to take care of all the creations on this earth with proper equanimity?

We have to remember that all our healing and health systems were preserved in two different ways;

1.The folk traditions of the rural communities

2.The scholarly traditions of codified knowledge system.

I do not have the training of a docter. But I would like to preserve in this book part of the traditional knowledge in the uses and applications of weeds.

This whole experiment carried out by me at the Sacred Groove of Wild plants and herbs, a property of the Sri Aurobindo Ashram. The Mother herself purchased this land long ago and supervised its development.It is she who is the inspiration in me.
